BIOGRAPHIE
Kelvin Somoire is the Senior Curator and Manager of Thim Lich Ohinga World Heritage Site and the National Museums of Kenya. He has worked in the museum and heritage sector for the past 10 years, 8 of them as a Curator in different museums. Kelvin holds a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology and Tourism from the University of Nairobi. With this extensive experience in the museum field, he is highly skilled in curatorial practice, exhibition development, collection management and building relationships with artists, collectors, donors, and other stakeholders. Kelvin is particularly interested in promoting culture and the preservation of cultural and natural heritage sites and collections. He has also been involved in various projects geared towards realizing the decentralization as well as decolonization of museums and heritage sites. Kelvin works closely with local communities to ensure inclusive decision-making on world heritage matters. He also lead efforts to mitigate climate-related challenges affecting the site's drystone fortifications and traditional structures at Thim Lich Ohinga, ensuring the preservation of its Outstanding Universal Value.
