BIOGRAPHIE
Simon Makuvaza Simon Makuvaza is a Research Fellow in the Faculty of the Built Environment at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Prior to his current position, he taught archaeology and heritage management at the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA) and worked as an archaeologist for the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe (NMMZ). During his tenure at NMMZ, he served as the manager of the Matobo Hills World Heritage Site and oversaw conservation efforts at the Khami World Heritage Site near Bulawayo. Makuvaza conducted ICOMOS desktop assessments for properties nominated for World Heritage listing and participated as an ICOMOS Panellist in evaluating sites proposed for nomination on the World Heritage List. He holds a PhD in archaeology from Leiden University, the Netherlands, an MSc in World Heritage Management from University College Dublin, Ireland, a general ^master’s in business administration from NUST, and Special Honours and B.A. General degrees in archaeology from the University of Zimbabwe.
