BIOGRAPHIE

I am a cultural heritage professional with nearly two decades of experience in World Heritage site management, heritage policy, and conservation strategy. I currently serve as the World Heritage Site Manager of the Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage Property in Mauritius, where I lead efforts to safeguard the site’s Outstanding Universal Value through coordinated conservation, strategic planning, and international reporting. My work is grounded in a strong belief that heritage should serve both present and future generations. I bring to my role a results-oriented mindset, the ability to work across disciplines, and a deep commitment to inclusive heritage governance. I thrive in environments that require both strategic vision and detailed implementation, and I value collaboration with local communities, technical teams, and international partners alike. In recent years, I have contributed to regional and global initiatives, including UNESCO’s capacity-building programmes, the 2024 Mid-Cycle Review for Africa’s Regional Action Plan, and the organization of international workshops on Heritage Impact Assessment. I am particularly interested in rethinking authenticity in the context of climate change and exploring how World Heritage sites in Small Island Developing States can be more resilient, dynamic, and locally grounded. I believe in knowledge-sharing, ethical leadership, and the role of heritage in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. I remain committed to strengthening professional networks across Africa and contributing meaningfully to conversations around decolonizing conservation, empowering local expertise, and designing heritage futures that are just, relevant, and visionary.
